Two neighbors in bloom

Now that it's late May, all foliage is blooming like mad.

Case in point, two large plants on either side of the new potato plot. First up, a very active lilac bush (big enough to be though of as a kind of tree!):

It's purely ornamental, since we can't think of anything useful to do with it yet.

About fifteen feet in front of it is the very young apple tree, just planted a year ago. Blossoms have just opened up:


I have high hopes of eating apples from this new friend not too far down the road.

It's dizzying to see these two guys greening away. Remember that we had snow on both of them just a couple of weeks back.
