Potato plants rising

Our potato plants have started broaching the surface of the soil:
It's always a delight to see them emerge, the first tangible results of our planting work.

That planting work is in three forms, again.  We're doing potato barrels, which seem to be ok this year.  I dug trenches, whose plants are slow to rise.  And this picture is from our mulch/no-dig plot.

I (Bryan) am pleased that I now know how to recognize the potato leaves.  I can easily distinguish them from the hordes of weeds and volunteers with which they compete, and which we happily yank.  It's satisfying to have learned this little bit of agriculture.
