Tomatoes in July

We continue our tomato growing this year, with good results so far.

How do we grow the red lovelies on a mountaintop, during a short season?  First, we start from seedlings.  We'd like to try seeds, but haven't been able to get the right environment for them yet.  Cold frame or greenhouse: that might help.

Second, we prepare beds.  Most are old tires, which are terrific: black, so retaining heat; a few inches high, so keep the soil up a bit.  We also made some extra beds with rocks.  Then poured in compost, into which the seedlings settled.  Then added frames for them to grow up:
As of today, each has either flowers or little fruits.

PS: by "us" I (Bryan) mean Ceredwyn.  These are her babies; she did all the work.
